amazon is launching in poland

Amazon.pl is beginning its operations in Poland with an incredible selection of over 100 million products across 30 categories with free shipping on eligible orders (worth more than $100 (€83)).

“We are thrilled to launch Amazon.pl and to be able to offer Polish customers a selection of more than 100 million products, including tens of thousands of products from local Polish businesses,” Alex Ootes, Vice President, European Expansion for Amazon, said.

This development takes Amazon into the direct competition with one of Poland’s longest-established e-commerce retailer, Allegro.

Allegro is the most popular e-commerce platform in Poland with over 200 million monthly visits. The company’s stock is performing well today, up 2% from yesterday. The company debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on October 12th.

Amazon operates in Poland since 2014. The US Chamber of Commerce recently announced Amazon as the country’s largest local employer and the third-largest foreign investor.

The ecommerce giant plans to open a 10th warehouse in Swiebodzin later this year, with the creation of over 1,000 jobs.

Amazon has established a network of fulfillment centers across Europe, enabling them to serve their European customers as quickly as possible. Hundreds of thousands of Amazon sellers are now able to reach new markets in a matter of two days. They can now optimize for maximum sales velocity and profitability with additional tools designed to increase visibility.
